HOW IT WORKS
Change the view. Keep the glass.
Switchable PDLC film is applied to suitable existing glass. When powered, it becomes clearer. When power is removed, it takes on a frosted appearance that scatters light.

The film is bonded to prepared dry glass
Applied to suitable existing interior glass on a prepared dry surface, following the applicable supplier instructions.

A 48 V AC supply powers the clearer state
The supplied film requires a 48 V AC supply. Compatibility with other driver voltages should not be assumed.

Removing power returns the frosted state
Without power, the liquid-crystal droplets scatter light and the glass reads as frosted.

Controls are confirmed per project
The control route is part of the project scope. Ask which options are available for your pilot.
Supplier documentation for the supplied film sheet states an operating range of −20 to +70 °C. That is supplier-rated information about the material, not a statement about the suitability of a particular installed system.

Every pilot includes a way to change state. Which route suits your space — a wall switch, a controller, or the Piranix Home app — is confirmed during the assessment.
- Wall switch or controller. The simplest route: power on for the clearer state, off for frosted.

If your question is about your own glass, the enquiry form is the faster route — include the city and intended use.
It can be applied to suitable existing glass. We assess the glass condition, location, dimensions and control route before confirming a project.
PDLC film can retain visible haze when powered. Appearance changes with lighting and viewing angle. A demonstration helps you judge it in conditions relevant to your space.
No. The frosted state scatters light and still allows light through. It should not be treated as blackout, and privacy should be assessed for the intended sightlines and lighting.
The film returns to its frosted state. The complete control setup and its behaviour are confirmed as part of the project scope.
The control option is confirmed for each project. Ask us which options are available for your pilot. App, voice-assistant and building-automation features should not be assumed to be included.
The film requires power for its clearer state. Total consumption depends on the film area and control equipment. We distinguish film consumption from controller losses and standby power when describing the system.
We are focusing on Vancouver-area demonstrations and pilot projects. Include your city in the enquiry so we can confirm whether we can support your location.
Our smart privacy film products are manufactured in China. Piranix is based in Vancouver.
Piranix offers a 2-year limited warranty. The applicable written terms identify covered products, services and conditions. Ask us about the coverage for your proposed project.
Custom fabricated film is $35 per square foot and standard installation is $25 per square foot, plus a provisional control allowance, and standard projects start at $1,695 before electrical work and tax. The estimate calculator above turns your dimensions into a budget. Area, control zones, access, finishing and electrical work all shape the final quotation, which follows a review of your glass.
Timing is confirmed after the proposed project and material availability are assessed. We do not promise a standard completion date before that review.
Follow the care instructions for the supplied film and finished installation. Do not assume every ordinary glass-cleaning product is suitable for the exposed film surface.
